Keep screen brightness low

The easiest fix of them all is to keep your screen brightness under control. While 100% screen brightness looks fantastic, it just isn’t necessary for backlit screens. Lowering the brightness to under 50% can get you a couple extra hours of battery usage. To lower the brightness, just swipe down from the top and slide the brightness control to the desired setting. Piece of cake!

Limit location services

Next, try monitoring your location services. GPS is great when it comes to getting around, checking weather or playing around with Snapchat geofilters – Disneyland!!! Or Vegas!!! – but it may be wise to cut back a little on this battery draining feature – just a little.how to improve android lollipop battery

Go to Settings > Location > Mode and select “Power Savings.” This will turn off your GPS to save battery but let you check location setting using wifi or cellular networks.

Backup photos while charging only

Ooooh here’s a winner – back up photos when charging only! Google Photos is a great way to organize and archive all of your photos and videos. By default, the app will backup all your photos whenever you are connected to wifi. And that’s great for saving on your data plan, but what about your battery?

You can go to the Google Photos app and click on the Menu on the top left. Go to settings – Back up & Sync – and click “while charging only.” This way all those reject selfies that weren’t good enough for social media don’t drain battery.

Enable low power mode

The Android operating system has a simple way to automatically maximize your battery life and turn off unnecessary features. It’s called low power mode and it’s very simple to use. Simply go to Settings – Battery – Menu and tap “Power saving mode.” This feature will restrict background data and reduce some performance, but your phone will last longer as a result.

You can also have this feature turned on automatically when the battery hits 5 or 15% – – on that same screen, just click “on” and select the option you want.

Stop using live wallpapers

This last tip goes a long way. Live wallpapers can be really fun – – who doesn’t love swaying palm trees or falling snow flakes as their background to be temporarily transported away from the corporate regime? I do but I don’t love the battery drain that accompanies them.

Go to Settings – Display – Wallpaper and choose anything other than Live Wallpapers. Really anything – a still pic of Grumpy Cat, you’re good!how to improve android lollipop battery
